Youth Mental Health and Wellness
Common Thread by Wolfson Children’s is weaving a greater understanding of the importance of youth mental health throughout our communities in North Florida and South Georgia.
We're working to support the mental health and well-being of children and teens by strengthening protective factors—positive community traits that reduce risk—through three key focus areas:
Awareness Thread: Reducing stigma and sparking conversation through community events, trainings, shared stories, and thoughtful content across media platforms.
Education Thread: Offering free, easy-to-understand resources to help caregivers and trusted adults recognize signs of struggle and support kids with age-appropriate tools and strategies.
Community Thread: Connecting families with nearby mental health providers and community resources, making it easier to get the right support at the right time.
Get tips and easy-to-use tools delivered straight to your inbox each quarter. These resources help start conversations with and boost mental wellness in children of all ages.

Celebrating Every Thread: Neurodiversity Awareness
April is Neurodiversity Awareness Month. It's a time to recognize and celebrate the many ways young people think, learn, and experience the world. Neurodivergence—including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other developmental differences—is a natural and valuable part of human diversity.
Some neurodivergent young people may also experience mental health challenges like anxiety or depression. With the right understanding and support, they can build confidence, connection, and strong self-awareness.
To support you and your child, we've created resources focused on:
- Masking and authenticity — Helping young people understand masking and feel more comfortable being themselves
- Sharing differences with friends — Supporting conversations that build connection and understanding
- Parent and caregiver self-care — Recognizing signs of burnout and creating a sustainable self-care practice
As a parent or caregiver, you often take on many roles: advocate, coordinator, and steady source of support. Taking care of yourself is an important part of caring for your child.
By recognizing and valuing these differences, we can help create more inclusive, understanding, and supportive communities for all young people.
Reminder for Caregivers
Self-care does not have to be large or time-consuming. Small, consistent moments of rest, connection and support can help prevent burnout and make it easier to continue caring for your child.
